Joshua Bendel (b. 2008) is an emerging composer and violist based in Fairfax County, Virginia, whose music blends intense drive with atmospheric lyricism and programmatic storytelling. Self-taught with over five years of compositional experience, Bendel’s works have been performed at both high school and collegiate levels, including features at the 2025 VMEA Conference Composition Festival and a 2026 premiere by the James Madison University Spring's String Thing Philharmonic Orchestra. As an active violist, he channels practical ensemble experience into idiomatic, pedagogically-sound repertoire.
